What Is The Best Nappy For Overnight?

The best nappy for overnight is our reusable two part bamboo extra absorbent night time nappy. No matter whether you use disposable nappies or reusable nappies during day, they'll leave your baby so comfortable they will gift you with a good nights sleep!

Your mental health and ability to manage day to day is directly linked to getting as much sleep as possible.

A baby or toddler who wets the bed will wake and stripping the bed at 4am is no fun, especially as they'll be in nappies for 2 1/2 years, until potty training! Pull up nappy pants are easy to use, but not so great at preventing leaks.  In this blogpost we'll look at:

Why does my baby's nappy leak at night?

Your baby's nappy probably leaks at night because they outpee them!

We had our twins in disposables overnight but fast found out they could wet right through them overnight!

Who knew that this was possible? The nappy manufacturers, that's who - hence the need for specialist disposable nappies for heavy wetters and more expensive 'dry nights' nappies with even more micro crystals to store moisture.

My third was my cloth nappy baby and he slept through far sooner in his soft and comfortable bamboo nappy and made it to morning with no leaks.

We could change the boosting to suit him and position them where our baby boy wet most. Tummy sleepers can have their absorbency in different positions to back sleepers!

Lots of people use disposable nappies during the day time but switch to super absorbent cloth nappies with cotton nappy covers overnight.

This is eco-friendly, saving on waste and decreases your carbon footprint. In addition, it only creates a small amount of extra washing and keeps baby's skin away from chemicals for at least 12 hours.

Our Cheeky Doodoo two part nappies come with a shaped absorbent nappy, in our case, bamboo - super soft, slim, absorbent, cooling and antibacterial - with an outer waterproof wrap.

Whilst it can at first seem harder to popper two different parts onto your baby, it quickly becomes clear that this makes 2 parters leakproof, especially overnight!

What's the best nappy for overnight?

The best nappy for overnight is a bamboo two-part nappy, but here are some other examples of good night-time nappies:

  • two part reusable nappy & wrap
  • all-in-one reusable nappy
  • pocket reusable nappy
  • flat cloth nappy
  • disposable night nappy

Two Part reusable nappy and wrap

Cheeky Bamboo Two Parter (Night Nappy Bundle)

Review: "I was very excited to try Cheeky Wipes reusable nappy. The bamboo nappy is soft and a comfortable fit and the outer lining is brilliantly waterproof and a good fit too"

All In Ones / Twos reusable nappy

Tots Bots Easyfit

Price: £12

Pros: Easy to figure out, stays together, granny and nursery proof

Cons: hard to boost, long drying time, prone to leaks especially overnight

Review: "Fantastic nappy for absorbency, takes a very long time to air dry but worth it for the convenience and reliability"

Pockets Cloth Nappy

Such as Bambino Miosolo

Price: £13.59

Pros: Cheap, can mix and match boosters

Cons: have to be stuffed, longer drying time, prone to leaks especially overnight

Review: "I love these nappies, they last through the night with extra booster. It is easy to clean up poo with the use of liners, so there is no mess left behind. I love the designs, functionality and easy maintenance. However I find them to be very bulky. "

Prefolds / flats nappy

Such as Muslinz

Price: 6 Prefold nappies £11.99, Wrap £8.75

Pros: Adaptable, easy to wash, cheap

Cons: can seem complicated to fold, need quite a lot of prep, needs a waterproof wrap

Reviews: "I bought this to use on my newborn but she was a big too big to put folded with the fasteners so I've been using as pads inside the nappies wraps and works perfectly! I wish I had found this as soon as she was born because it would have been perfect for when she was tiny.

Perfect absorbency (sometimes the last layer is not even wet)The only down side is that takes some time to dry which is understandable as it has several layers!"

Disposable Night Nappy

Such as Pampers Baby Dry or Night Pants / Huggies Dry Nites

Price: £10 for 28 (36p each)

Pros: Convenient and can be used until toilet training

Cons: chemicals near baby, overheating, bad for the environment, single use plastic, not biodegradable, run out easily, less absorbent, prone to leaks & nappy rash etc. they're also expensive. Two months of these would cover the cost of enough of any of the reusable nappies above to not have to purchase any more!

Reviews: "Not one I could ever really fault - fits well, daughter doesnt really notice them on over night - and rarely (if ever) leak"
